Chapter 1 “Silver? Silver? Yo, Silver, get over here!”
Silver, a silver furred Catrean with ice blue eyes lay on the roof. He sat up and dropped from the roof to the deck, where Hawk waited for him. Hawk was a brown feathered Eaglera with amber eyes. She had a straight look on her face.
“Yeah, Hawk? What is it?” He asked her.
“I need a private talk with you,” Hawk replied.
“But can’t you just tell me out here?”
Hawk’s shoulders slumped, and she sighed. She shook her head.
“You’re so naïve. Telling you out here, where others could here us, eh? Look, that isn’t exactly private, so to say.”
Silver rolled his eyes.
“Okay. Then tell me where for you where it is comfortable to.”
Hawk looked perplexed for a second, and then she mouthed, “Oh.”
Hawk led Silver to her room. Silver always liked the spicy smell of her room. Jars of herbs and spices normally lined the south wall of the room, near where the door was, and that left a welcoming scent. Well, to him, anyways. In the north-west corner of the room was a desk with a bowl made of crude obsidian and a rough stone to grind herbs with. There were also two chairs. A window was on the east side of the large room. The walls were painted a classy amber color, preferably light amber like wood flooring. He had to admit, the walls and Hawk’s feathers were well matched in color.
Silver situated himself after Hawk chose a chair. He spoke first, as to avoid what could be Hawk’s wrath, though actually, it would probably inflame it.
“What is it? And why is it so private?”
Hawk held her head and sighed.
“That’s what I’m trying to figure out,” She replied, “It’s about Vol.”
“Vol?” Silver stood up, and was close to slamming his hand down on the table, but Hawk held his hand from doing so.
“Yes, it’s about Vol. So what? You see…” Hawk frowned, “I left Arc. That’s why you didn’t see me the day before yesterday. I spied on Vol… they are weak. I’d like to help them.”
Silver sat down again, and stared at the desk. He closed his eyes. Then he looked back up at her again.
“How? And why are they weak?”
“That’s what I’m trying to figure out. I’m guessing it’s about the war when I was born. Fifteen years ago,” She paused, “May I spill some history on you?”
Silver shrugged and replied, “Sure. It may help.”
“Okay then. Actually, the war between Arc and Vol happened a couple years before I was born. I think it was five years before I was born. Mind you, Arc populated the whole planet. This city has been around for centuries. Some people of Arc, actually, a large chunk of people, mysteriously left Arc. At first the locals thought it was a mixture of murders and kidnaps. They conversed with the families of those that had disappeared, and the families simply said that they left. That smoothed things over.
“Then rebellions occurred by those that had left. They wanted their own city, their own land. So, they wanted a fight, we didn’t give ‘em one, so on and so forth. Finally they took the battle to us. Actually, we were kind of expecting it. Take it as goading, if you’d like. The battle lasted for two years, and we just stepped back and said, you can have your own city and land if you leave us alone. Well, that worked for now. They took the land by the volcano, hence the name Vol. We just called our city Arc, well, because we stayed well away from there.
“So, there you have it. Full shortened version of the history of the war.” Hawk looked up at Silver, who started looking mad again. She snorted.
“I think you need to calm down. Here, hold this,” She cawed as she took out a stone that looked brown and bumpy.
“What is it?” Silver asked as he held it in his paw.
“I don’t know what it’s called, but I just call it a shaman stone. Which paw do you use more?”
“My right.”
“Then put it in your left.”
Silver switched the stone from his right paw to his left paw. It felt… peculiar. Like as if it had a pulse or something.
“Is it alive?”
Hawk looked at him.
“Do you think? No, it isn’t alive. Yeah, it’s a pulse, but do you see it breathing or moving? No. It just has a pulse. It’s supposed to calm people down, and for you it worked.”
“Back to Vol, and the story you told. It doesn’t help with the situation. I’m only getting the feeling that they want more than what they already have. But do they need it? Tell me that,” Silver said hastily.
“You haven’t seen what I’ve seen,” Hawk replied, shaking her head. If only she knew how to bring him along if he weren’t so much of a control freak sometimes. Fourteen year olds seriously had issues, especially orphans. Then she got the idea. She was glad she was telepathic.
You’ll see what I saw very soon. She told him.((And that's Chapter one of the story I'm working on! Comments, critizing, other stuff, I'll allow that!))

Chapter 2 “Okay, so, what’s the plan?” Silver asked.
“I don’t make plans. I do them as I go along,” Hawk lied guardedly.
Silver had a questioning look on his face, like he didn’t believe her.
“Are you telling the truth? But if you are about making plans as you go along, at least I do too,” Silver said in Hawk’s same guarded tone.
Hawk sighed, forgetting that Silver knew when she wasn’t telling the truth. Why that was so was because she always normally told the truth.
“So what if I lied? I mean, it isn’t a big deal.”
Silver frowned and didn’t reply, and started walking down the stone sidewalk.
It was midnight now, and no light shown. So Silver held Hawk’s hand and listened to her directions. He was glad she had a sense of direction, because he didn’t have one except for east and west during the daytime. Then her voice rang in his head, and he winced.
No, go left, idiot! She spat.
Silver winced again from the harshness of her voice. He held up his two paws, and turned left. He heard Hawk sign in exasperation.
“You mean you don’t know your left and right?” She muttered.
“I know which way is left and which way is right. It’s only the clarification I worry about. And would you please stop chewing me out?” He snapped, hoping to get a reaction out of her. But what he expected didn’t come. Whatever this thing was going on at Vol really bugged her if she wasn’t chewing him out for telling her so. Wanting to get out of Arc as soon as possible, Silver picked up his pace.
Silver yanked Hawk into the shadows as some dawn guards passed by.
“What did you do that for?” Hawk demanded.
“They were guards! Don’t you realize?” He pulled Hawk towards him, and whispered with a harsh tone, “We aren’t supposed to be out here! They could’ve killed us, dimwit! If you didn’t care so much for Vol, we wouldn’t be in this mess!”
Hawk didn’t seem fazed by this.
“Hey, you two!” A gruff voice sounded.
Silver turned around and froze with fear and anger. He turned his head to Hawk.
“Go! I can do this myself!”
Hawk only nodded and darted away, not wanting to face Silver’s wrath. She took one last look at the Catrean, and got out of the narrow alleyway.
Hawk stacked a few boxes on top of each other and climbed them like stairs until she stood upon the roof. It felt weird, and particularly unbalanced. However, she felt that it was because Silver was running around on roofs all the time and she didn’t. Not wanting to take chances with the roof, she jumped off the side and flapped her bird like wings and began to fly.
She landed on another roof and stood there for a second, and did as she had done with the last roof. Finally she saw the wall separating the town from the outside. She landed on the wall, but landed just on the edge. Hawk nearly lost her balance, and took a small step back. She turned her head around and began to afraid. The ground and buildings below her were so small… no. She realized how high she got, and quickly she jumped into the other side of the wall.
Hawk landed on the ground, and looked behind her. The cream colored stone wall was behind her.
Good. I landed on the right side. She thought, pleased. Then she remembered the guards. Silver. What happened to him? She shook her head.
He must be alright. Wait… can I use telepathy from that long of a distance? Hawk thought as she began to flee away from the stone wall, panting.
She skidded to behind a medium sized boulder, and peered around it. No one was there.
Silver? If you can hear me, please reply! Then she waited for a reply. After at least thirty seconds of waiting, she sat down in the grass.
Minutes passed. Half an hour, then an hour. Nothing had replied to Hawk.
Shoot! He must either be dead or too far away! She cursed in her mind. She knew she should’ve stayed with Silver, despite what he had said, and then she continued on, I guess there’s no going back now, huh?
Resigned, Hawk stood up. She looked down at the ground, and picked up one of her feathers. She threw it in the air and let the wind carry it away.
“I guess it’s time to get moving,” Hawk said, not caring if anyone heard her. She doubted anyone would. No one went to the outside; everyone was afraid of how dangerous it was.
Doesn’t seem dangerous to me.
Hawk scrambled on top of the rock, and began flying again.
The next few hours were simply boring and… exhausting, Hawk had to admit. She dropped down to the ground in the middle of a clearing. She was about to go flee into the shadows before she heard a voice.
“Hawk?” The voice sounded tired yet disbelieving.
Hawk turned around. The Catrean in front of her was quite dusty, with a few cuts here and their, but they seemed to be covered in scabs. His fur was now a very light brown-silvery color, but his eyes were still the daring ice blue they always were.
He smiled, and brushed his arm with his paw.
“Hey, Silver,” She cawed slightly energetically.
Silver now smirked at her, and looked like as if he were about to laugh any minute.
“What?” Hawk asked, “No, seriously, what are you laughing about?”
“It isn’t exactly important. So, you had a nice flight? Mine was much worse,” Silver replied, grinning.
“I admit my whole scheme of things wasn’t what I wanted, but yeah. You don’t have wings, so you had to have had a much longer time getting out.”
He nodded.
“Talk about guards. It was actually easy to make them think twice! I picked up a few boxes with my telekinesis and threw some at them. However, they only made it out with a few scratches… like me!”
Have you gone nuts? Hawk wondered as she listened to him go on with his story. Then it hit her.
Oh yeah… fourteen year olds are always energetic, no matter the gender. Then again, Hawk wouldn’t be surprised if he had ADHD – attention deficit hyperactivity disorder.
Silver looked up at Hawk, who was nodding as he was speaking. He could tell she wasn’t listening anymore. He didn’t mind that; he supposed he’d stop listening to someone that was going on and on with their conversation as well.
“And that’s pretty much it,” He said, cutting himself off in mid sentence. Once Silver realized that, he rolled his eyes.
“Okay… why’d you cut yourself off?” Hawk asked.
Silver didn’t reply; instead, he crashed to the ground.
Guess he went over-board with telekinesis. Hawk guessed as she skittered to where Silver landed.
“You okay?” She asked Silver as she helped him up, though Hawk suspected she should actually make him sit down.
“Um… perhaps,” Silver replied, not really wanting to hold Hawk back.
“Look, I don’t want you to wear yourself out by using telekinesis all of the time,” Hawk pointed out, now concerned for him. She shook her head. What had really happened?
